Monthly Reflections - April
Here's my #MonthlyReflections post for April.
April was great for my business. It's easy for me to get down on myself for not being where I want to be yet financially so it's a good practice to, instead of focusing on where I'm not, I should remind myself where I came from.
Looking back at April 2015's total revenue (which was my worst month in the history of my business making only $24, I sold one item) and comparing it to this years, I'm very happy to say I didn't just double, I didn't triple but I 31x'ed it! With a total of 3029% increase! I know it's not a fair compassion because that was the worst month but as I review each month and come up with my sales game plan I seen that $24 and it was huge motivation to kick that number's ass.
That's something to be proud of when it's just me running the business. I have not paid for advertising (although I will be soon), it's a typical, organic, bootstrap business ran by a typical girl who quit her part-time, dead end retail job to follow a passion for creativity.(By the way, I've been making more than I was at the retail job for the last 6 months.)
I don't usually share my numbers with folks but if I can inspire just one person to take that leap into entrepreneurship then it's totally worth it. I started my business in Jan 2015 and my revenue has either doubled or tripled from last years monthly numbers. It's a slow, but steady, growth and it really excites me for what's to come.
There's no magic breakthrough in business where one day you're making your ideal revenue goals. It's the small, but consistent, daily steps in the right direction that will get you where you want to be. I'm only in my second year and I hear that a lot people don't start making real sustainable income for 3-4 years.
I wrote down on a piece of paper the ideal yearly revenue I want to make and the year it will happen and it's hanging on my wall so I can see it everyday. Reviewing my numbers every month shows me that I'm well on my way.
Please, let me know if you have any questions about running creative business. I am a wealth of knowledge and if I can't answer your questions I know someone who could.
